An Optimizing Study for Service Platforms of TerminalLogistics Based on Queuing Theory-Taking CAINIAOStation in Zhongshan Campus of GuangdongPharmaceutical University as an Example[Abstract]Queuing is a common phenomenon in daily life,which is hard toavoid when customers receive various services,from shopping in supermarkets togoing to hospitals.Besides,there is a phenomenon of queuing in the process of peoplereceiving express service.Nowadays,with the continuous development of modernlogistics,people are more and more aware of the convenience and rapidity of logistics.Sending and receiving express has gradually become a part of People's Daily life.Ifthe service desk of the express station is set up too little,it cannot meet the needs ofcustomers and increase the queuing loss.On the contrary,setting up too many servicedesks will cause idle waste.Therefore,this paper takes CAINIAO Station inZhongshan campus of Guangdong pharmaceutical university as an example,andunderstands the current situation of the express service of this station firstly bycollecting first-hand data through questionnaires and field observation.Based on thequeuing theory,an optimized queuing model is built finally by introducing an M/M/Cqueuing model and using an auxiliary software called QM For Windows to analyzedata.Consequently,the optimal configuration of the number of service counters of theterminal logistics service platform can not only meet the needs of customers,but alsoreduce the cost of setting up service counters.[Keywords]Queuing Theory M/M/C Model Terminal Logistics ServicePlatform
