Study on the teaching status and improvement strategy of "graphics andgeometry"in lower grade mathematics inprimaryschool-A case study of S Primary School in Xuzhou CityAbstract Graphics and geometry are one of the four fields of elementary schoolmathematics,and the mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education(2011edition)is an important part of it The requirements of the field are to cultivate students'spatial concept and develop their geometric intuition and reasoning ability.However,theproblems in the actual teaching are that students'geometry quality is not high and theirsense of space is weak.Therefore,how to carry out "graphics and geometry"teachingand develop students'geometry ability and sense of space has become a problem for allelementary school mathematics teachers .Based on the actual teaching situation,thispaper tries to investigate and study the "graphics and geometry"teaching in the lowergrades,aiming at cultivating students'spatial concept and geometry ability,improving thequality of graphics and geometry teaching and students'interest in leaming.In this paper,three research methods including questionnaire survey,interview and observation areused to investigate the current situation of "graphics and geometry"teaching and relevantimprovement strategies from the four aspects of "graphics and geometry"teachingobjectives,contents,methods and evaluation methods.The whole paper is divided intofive parts.Key words primary school mathematics figure geometry junior grade
