兰州城市学院本科毕业论文(设计)AbstractTess of the d 'Urbervilles is the most influential representative work of the famousBritish novelist Thomas Hardy.It tells the story of a poor daughter who goes outto make a living,falls into the mire and grates on the eternal.The work is uniquein both content and art and has strong charm.The language style and writingtechnique of Hardy's works contain rich country style and wonderful symbolism.The characters are shaped by the side in the long vivid and delicate description ofthe environment.Often,there is emotion in the scene,and the emotion iscontained in the scene.Therefore,this paper will start from the description of thenatural environment in the novel,and explore the symbolism hidden in it byanalyzing the animals,plants,natural scenes and the archetypal images of theprotagonists in the environment.Key Words:Thomas Hardy;Symbolism;Natural environment;imageII-
