Preparation of the water treatment chemical Poly AluminumChloride-Study on methods of improving basicity of Poly AluminumChloride making from the solid waste which contains aluminumAbstractWater quality directly affects people's daily life and health.However,modern waterpollution is becoming more and more serious.Therefore,people are paying more and moreattention to how to effectively purify drinking water,domestic sewage and industrial water.Inthe process of water quality purification,water purifying agent plays a crucial role.The high-efficiency water purifying agent Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC)studied in thispaper has many characteristics that traditional aluminum salt and ferric salt coagulants do nothave,such as small dosage,relatively low cost,rapid formation of flocs,dense particles,fastsettling speed,high efficiency and stable ability to purify water and so on.PAC is rapidlyreplacing traditional aluminum salt water treatment agents and being widely used in urban andrural tap water,industrial circulating water purification,drinking water purification and otheraspects.Using Poly Aluminum Chloride as water purification agent provides great economicbenefits and good social benefits.In this paper,acid dissolution two-step methods are used to prepare PAC withaluminum-containing solid waste as raw materials.Different amounts of sodium hydroxide,sodium metaaluminate and sodium carbonate are added to the prepared PAC to study themethods on improving the basicity of PAC.Through single factor experiments,it is found thatthe alumina content may not meet the standard when the three regulators are added to adjustthe product to get a higher basicity.By-products are less when sodium metaaluminate is usedto improve the basicity,and it is more economical to use sodium hydroxide to improve thebasicity.Keywords:Flocculant;Poly Aluminum Chloride;Basicity
