本科论文AbstractLearning English is to expand the influence of Chinese culture in the world,to lay the foundation for students to communicate with the world better,and tolet the world know more about China.In order to increase the value of CET-4and further improve students'English proficiency level.After the reform,thesentence translation are changed into paragraph translation in CET-4,thus thereform increases the difficulty of paragraph translation compared with sentencetranslation,more attention is paid to the assessment of students'comprehensivetranslation competence.As a result of the increase in paragraph length,there arelong and difficult sentences,and the sentence structure has become morecomplex than before.The reform requires high English proficiency.So manystudents still have many problems during the translation process.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part introduces thefunctional equivalence theory proposed by the American linguist Eugene Nida.The second chapter discusses about the involving content and characteristics ofCET-4.The third part adopts the method of combining theory with practice,from the perspective of functional equivalence,doing some analysis andresearch on the relevant examination questions.Based on the functionalequivalence theory,this paper attempts to reduce the errors and improve theability of CET-4 paragraph translation.The study of English translation is becoming more and more mature,andthere are many translation theories which can be used in translation,amongwhich functional equivalence theory makes it easier for students to mastertranslation skills and get high marks in translation examinations.This paper putsforward appropriate translation methods for college students'English learningand relevant strategies for improving translation ability in CET-4,as well asmethods and processes for paragraph translation.This paper analyzes andresearches the difficulties of paragraph translation in CET-4.Keywords:CET-4;paragraph translation;functional equivalence theory
