AbstractAlong with the development of the computer technology,the numerical simulationtechnology was used widely in metal forming process,based on rigid-plastic FEM,thenumerical simulation technology had got great success.In this simulation,the forgingprocess of cylinder was simulated by the advanced 3D rigid-plastic FEM.The threedimension model of the cylinder built in PRO/ENGINEER was analyzedthermomechanic coupled.And then,the variable as stress,strain and temperature field ofcylinder and die in the forging process was analyzed by the exporting function on pictureand diagram of 3D rigid-plastic FEM.Based on these results,the variety of the variableas stress strain and temperature in the forging process can be achieved.In this simulation,numerical simulations on the forging process of cylinder between two flat and twounderlay loop were done respectively.Distributions of the variables as effective stresseffective strain and temperature at different time were got.Curves of these variableschanging with time were got.Changes of stress and strain in forging can be studied bythese curves,fundamentals on designing forging technique,loading speed and press scalewere got.Keywords:upset;simulation;temperature;stress;strain
