AbstractNC technology is the important foundation and key technique of the mechanicalmachining modernization and military industry development.NC machining can raiseproduction rate,keep machining quality steady,reduce machining cycle,improveproduction flexibility,carry out the automatic manufacture of all kinds of complicated andexact parts,achieve the CAD management in factories and workshops,cut down theequipment number in plants,save labor force,improve working condition,accelerate thedeveloping and updating speed of the products,and enhance the ability of the corporationsto adapt to the market and general benefit.At the same time,it also can make thepreparation and machining process of the manufacture together,unite CAD,CAM andCAPP,and cause the flexible and automatic level of the mechanical machining go upCAD NC programming and virtual machining simulation of the positive sphere on thesolid rocket engine is accomplished in this thesis by UG NX,which,at present,is anadvanced mechanical engineering system consisted of CAD,CAM and CAE together inthe world.Based upon the new machining technics and high quality NC programming,anew way to carry out the higher efficiency and accuracy machining of the sphere is given.The main content is below.Firstly,the machining method of the sphere surface is chosenafter analyzing the arts and crafts of the sphere in detail according to its structurecharacteristic and technical specifications.Then parameterized models of the sphere,blank,fixture and machine tool are created in UG/CAD environment.Afterward,5 axes NC codesare generated and technical parameters,such as tool path,are optimized in UG/CAMmodule.Above all,through machining process simulation,the gouges between cuttingtools and the part are eliminated,and the interferences and collisions between machine toolcomponents,fixture and cutting tools are avoided.Because UG NX is built on a productdesign environment based on process,it can carry out the integration from development tomachining,impel the automation and high efficiency of the design and manufacture,andalso improve the competitive capability of the enterprises on the international market.Key words:NC programming;Parameterized modeling:CAM:Post-processing:Machiningsimulation
