Simulation and Optimization of Methanol Distillation ProcessBased on Aspen PlusAbstractAs the most basic organic material,methanol is one of the most concerned energysources in the 20th century.Crude methanol produced in all synthetic processes todaycontains a large number of impurities,so the refining of crude methanol is extremelyimportant,and the distillation process in the refining process is the most important method toseparate the target and impurities.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the simulationand optimization of methanol distillation process.This design USES Aspen Plus chemical simulation software in Aspen V9 to simulate andoptimize the process of the methanol distillation unit with an annual output of 570,000 tons.Finally,a four-column distillation process using methanol was determined,and the pressurizedtower and atmospheric pressure tower used the double-effect distillation method,whichreduced the energy consumption of the public engineering.According to the materialcomposition and process characteristics,NRTL activity coefficient model is adopted for thepre-distillation tower,pressurization tower,atmospheric pressure tower and recovery tower inthe process of methanol distillation unit.According to the above conditions as the theoreticalbasis,the methanol distillation unit was established,and the final simulation results met thequality standards of high-quality methanol products in the industry.The simulation results ofeach module were compared with the literature values,and the consistency between the twowas found,which proved that the simulation results of this design process were reliable.Based on the process of methanol distillation unit,the sensitivity analysis tool in AspenPlus was used to investigate the influence of parameters such as theoretical plate,mass refluxratio,tower top recovery rate,feed plate number,extractant dosage,sideline recoveryposition and sideline recovery amount on the separation effect,and the most appropriateprocess parameters were found out.Through the optimization of process parameters,thequality fraction of methanol in refined methanol products reached 99.99%,and the recoveryrate of methanol reached 99%.After adding the energy saving process of double effect
