AbstractLarge water pump units are key equipment of large pumping stations.Inorder to master there liability and durability of the units,statisticsanalysis was performed about faults of the units;the guide bearing ofthe pump,the blade of the impeller and the motor stator were selectedas the key damageable parts;the main failure modes were determined as:wear of the guide bearing,cavitation and fracture of the blade,insulationaging of the motor stator and burnout of thrust bearings of the motor.Thefailure criteria of the key damageable parts were investigated anddetermined.The results of this paper is significant for improving thereliability and durability of large pump units,guiding maintenance andmanagement of pump stations and determining rational overhaul cycle ofpump units.Keywords:large pump units;damageable parts;failure modes;discrimination criteria
