Abstract:in the reaction of methanol to olefin (MTO),the high activity and highselectivity of ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst showed that it was modified by some trace metalions. In this paper,X ray diffraction (XRD),N2 adsorption desorption, infraredspectroscopy (IR),infrared spectroscopy and NH3 molecular probe (IR-NH3)wereused to study the deactivation mechanism and regeneration method.Thesecharacteristics indicate that coking is the main cause of catalyst deactivation. In orderto make the catalyst deactivation, there are two methods, namely:roasting andmethanol filtration, has been used.N2 adsorption desorption, infrared spectroscopy(IR),infrared spectroscopy and NH3 molecular probe (IR-NH3)characterizationshowed that the two methods can eliminate the coking of the catalyst and activate thecatalyst.X ray diffraction (XRD)indicated that the structure did not change afterregeneration.Interestingly, the catalytic activity of the regenerated catalyst in theprocess of methanol to olefin reaction is better than that of the new one.In addition, the roasting activation can more thoroughly eliminate coke, however, methanolfiltering method can be more easily in the reactor on the spot.Key words:methanol;olefin;ZSM-5;deactivation;regeneration
